An apparatus for charging a negative-pressure source is described. The apparatus includes a body having a first end, a second end, a suction chamber, and a longitudinal axis. A slider at least partially surrounds the body and is configured to slide relative to the body parallel to the longitudinal axis. A piston is disposed in the suction chamber and slidable relative to the body parallel to the longitudinal axis. The apparatus includes a rod having a first end coupled to the slider and a second end coupled to the piston. The first end and the second end can move parallel to the longitudinal axis in opposite directions. An end cap is coupled to the body.
