The invention refers to a bale forming and wrapping apparatus and method. A bale forming means forms a bale in a bale forming chamber. The bale in the bale forming chamber is wrapped by means of a wrapping device. A web (8) of wrapping material is pulled from a reservoir which is held by an unrolling station. A wrapping material conveying device conveys the web (8) towards a wrapping material inlet (In). A pusher plate drive (13.l) pivots at least one pusher plate (3.l). The pivoted pusher plate (3.l) pivots the conveyed web (8) towards the wrapping material inlet (in). The pusher plate pivoting axis (PA.l) is perpendicular to the inlet longitudinal axis (IA).
