To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus capable of improving operability relating to a measurement operation.

SOLUTION: The screen display part 12 of the ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus 1 fixedly displays an ultrasonic image. A START key detection part 13 detects the operation of a START key 21 and reads setting information 16 from a storage part 15. A measurement menu processing part 9 displays a measurement menu, a measurement processing part 10 starts the execution of a measurement package and a measured result processing part 11 displays a measured result column including a measurement part. A pointer is displayed together with the ultrasonic image and a measurement state is attained. An operation part 5 moves the pointer, a pointer position detection part 6 detects the position information of the pointer and a pointer area determination part 7 judges which area the pointer is positioned in. ON the basis of a determined result and a pointer shape determination part 8 determines the shape of the pointer and a switching part 19 switches a processing state. A settlement key detection part 18 detects the operation of a settlement key, and the measurement package and the measurement part are selected.
