A composition for a medical device is described. The composition comprises a specific mucoadherent gelling complex composed of EPS, exopolysaccharides of bacterial origin produced in situ in the gastrointestinal tract by specific selected bacterial strains, in association with vegetable gums and/or animal and/or vegetable gelatines. The complex is capable of establishing a complete barrier effect of a mechanical type extending throughout the whole gastrointestinal tract and can be used as a medication for the prevention and treatment of all pathologies connected to a deficiency in the barrier effect in the gastrointestinal area due to a low production of mucus, such as, by way of non-exhaustive example, intestinal permeability and bacterial translocation.La présente invention concerne une composition pour un dispositif médical comprenant un complexe gélifiant mucoadhérent spécifique composé d'EPS, d'exopolysaccharides d'origine bactérienne produits in situ dans le tube digestif par des souches bactériennes sélectionnées spécifiques, en association avec des gommes végétales et/ou des gélatines végétales et/ou animales. Ledit complexe est capable d'établir un effet de barrière complet de type mécanique s'étendant dans l'ensemble du tube digestif et peut être utilisé en tant que médication pour la prévention et le traitement de toutes les pathologies liées à une déficience de l'effet de barrière dans la région gastro-intestinale due à une faible production de mucus, tel que, à titre d'exemple non exhaustif, la perméabilité intestinale et la translocation bactérienne.
