PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for growing a plant by artificial light irradiation using a planar light source, with low electric power consumption and the wavelengths of irradiative rays of light chosen as desired, and with the degree of freedom of the design of the light source being large. SOLUTION: The method for growing a plant by irradiating it with light emitted from an organic EL sheet 9 as a planar light source is provided. This method has the following advantages: The degree of freedom of the design of the light source is large, enabling designs as desired, including planar, U-shaped, curve-surfaced, box-shaped and cylindrical ones. Easy to set up at a plant-growing place. Low in electric power consumption. The wavelengths of irradiative rays of light can be chosen freely by changing light-emitting layer.
