The present application relates to a polymerizable dental adhesive systemformulated for effective and durablebonding of zirconia based materials and restorations to dental resins anddental surfaces. According to one embodiment, apolymerizable dental adhesive system comprises a first acidic monomercomprising an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groupor moiety of the general formula CH2=C x-C(O)- wherein X is hydrogen, methylor a lower alkyl group, and the first polymerizablemonomer further comprises a phosphoric or phosphonic acid group of generalformula -OP(O)(OH)2, -OP(O)(OH), -C-P(O)(OH)2and -C-P(O)(OH), and a second polymerizable acidic monomer comprises anethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group ormoiety of the general formula CH2=C x-C(O)- wherein X is hydrogen, methyl or alower alkyl group, and wherein the secondpolymerizable acidic monomer further comprises a carboxylic acid group of thegeneral formula -C(O)OH.
