In a boron nitride powder including a primary particle of BN which is formed in a flat shape and an aggregate of the primary particle, water permeation rate is set at less than 1 mm2/s and oil absorption is set at a range of 100 mL/100 g ~ 500 mL/100 g in order to provide a boron nitride powder having high water repellency and high oil absorbency for a cosmetic material. Furthermore, a cosmetic material is obtained by using the boron nitride powder, wherein the cosmetic material not only greatly improves a sense of radiance or a sense of transparency (a sense of nude makeup) but also greatly improves “durability”.於包含形成為扁平形狀的BN的一次粒子及該一次粒子的凝聚體的氮化硼粉末中,藉由使水的滲透速度小於1mm2/s,並且將吸油量設為100mL/100g~500mL/100g的範圍,而製成撥水性及吸油性優異的化妝料用氮化硼粉末,進而藉由使用該化妝料用氮化硼粉末,而獲得不僅修飾的光澤感或透明感(裸妝感)得到大幅度改善、而且「持久性」亦得到大幅度改善的化妝料。
