Disclosed is a system for adjusting a telescopic arrangement suitable for use on a crane or hoist for moving a wheelchair or scooter, the system comprising: an outer section and an inner section 34 received within the outer section. The outer section comprises first and second body portions 44A,44B each having engagement features, and the inner section comprises corresponding engagement features 62 that interlock at an interface with the engagement features of the outer section in use. The engagement features are shaped such that a gap 64 is provided between at least one of the outer section engagement features and the corresponding inner section engagement feature at the interface. The gap allows rotation of the first and/or second body portions when the first and second body portions are forced together, such that the inner and outer section will be clamped or locked together. The interlocking engagement features of the inner and outer section may comprise a dovetail and corresponding channel. Also disclosed is a hoist mechanism comprising: a lifting arm and a spreader bar having a hook formation. Further disclosed is a hoist comprising: a lifting arm having a cross-section that is at least in part generally U-shaped an actuator and an actuator mounting point provided within the generally U-shaped cross-section.
