PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image of internal anatomy.SOLUTION: A system and method of the invention include an image processing apparatus which is configured to provide a high-resolution image of the surgical field from the low resolution scan during the procedure. In order to produce a large number of representative images on the basis of the replacement of the movement of a baseline image, the image processing apparatus digitally operates the high resolution baseline image that has been obtained in advance. During the procedure, the representative image is selected with the degree to which the correlation is accepted in the new low resolution image. The selected representative image and the new image are merged to provide the higher resolution image of the surgical field.
