A condom in the form of a sheath is described which is closed at one end and open at the opposite end, the opposite end being surrounded by a bead B having a minimum inner diameter of at least 32mm and a wall thickness of greater than 2mm. A method of manufacture is also described, whereby the bead may be created by rolling 30-55% of the unrolled length L of the condom to form a bead, the resulting bead having a defined inner diameter to wall thickness ratio. The initial length L is longer than a standard condom length, for example length L is 350mm, of which 170mm is rolled to form the bead. The increased beading provides constriction at the base of the penis to prolong a firm erection, but without reducing the condom diameter.
