The apparatus includes a motorised moving support surface such as a conveyor belt that carries a bale of hay to an edge of the trailer or vehicle and advances it incrementally so that it overhangs the edge. When enough of the bale overhangs the edge, a portion will flake off under gravity and fall to the ground.
