A monoclonal antibody that binds human ferroportin 1 (SEQ ID NO:1). The antibody has the light chain CDR1-3 sequences and heavy chain CDR1-3 sequences: (a) SEQ ID NOs: 37, 129, 22, 107, 118 and 120 respectively； (b) SEQ ID NOs: 37, 174, 22, 175, 176 and 120 respectively； (c) SEQ ID NOs: 37, 125, 22, 23, 110 and 19 respectively； (d) SEQ ID NOs: 37, 177, 22, 23, 112 and 19 respectively； or (e) SEQ ID NOs: 37, 122, 22, 23, 110 and 19 respectively. The antibody can be used to treat anaemia or anaemia of cancer, or for increasing serum iron levels, reticulocyte count, red blood cell count, haemoglobin or hematocrit in a subject.
