An apparatus is provided for imaging within a patient's body. In one embodiment, the device includes a flexible elongate member that can be inserted into a patient's body. The apparatus also has an imaging assembly disposed at a distal end of the flexible elongate member and extending over a length of the distal end. The imaging assembly can include an array 302 of imaging elements that can have an outer surface and an inner surface. The imaging assembly may further include an integrated circuit 304 adjacent an inner surface of the array of imaging elements. The apparatus can further include a conductive plate 375 adjacent to the imaging assembly and extending for at least a portion of a length of the imaging assembly.
