Embodiments disclosed herein relate to delivering therapeutic nucleic acids to ocular tissue to provide therapeutic effects that reduce the symptoms of visual impairment and reduce other visual impairments. In a specific embodiment, plasmid DNA is delivered to cells of the trabecular meshwork to improve the increase in intraocular pressure.
