PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning endoscope capable of realizing excellent insertability with respect to the duct line, etc., by making the diameter of the tip area of the distal section further smaller.SOLUTION: The scanning endoscope is configured as follows. A detection fiber bundle 16 for guiding incident light is arranged along an illumination tube 43 of a light source unit 40 and a light-receiving surface 16a installed on a tip surface of the detection fiber bundle 16 is arranged at proximal side than the tip of the illumination tube 43.
