The present invention relates to a service and maintenance station for a handheld drug delivery device of pen-injector type, comprising:a receptacle section to receive at least a portion of the drug delivery device,at least one service module adapted to maintain and/or to restore the operability of the drug delivery device, wherein the at least one service module comprises a cleaning and/or sterilizing module adapted to receive, to clean and/or to sterilize a distal end section of the drug delivery device to be connected with a piercing assembly.
