The present invention relates to a novelsynergistic pharmaceutical compositionfor serotoninreuptake inhibition, wherein thesaid composition comprises pentacyclicterpenoid glycosides,preferably asiaticoside and madecassoside optionally along with excipients.Also the presentinvention relates toexcipients； a process of preparation of novelsynergisticpharmaceuticalcomposition for serotonin reuptake inhibition, wherein the process comprisingsteps of: (a)obtaining extract from the plant Centella asiatica； (b) treating the extractwith the solvents toremove fatty substances, chlorophyll and other colorants； (c) purifying theextract through HPLCto obtain the eluted solvent； and (d) concentrating the eluted solvent toarrive at thecomposition. The invention also relates to thecomposition； and use of acomposition comprisingpentacyclic terpenoid glycosides, preferably asiaticoside and madecassosideoptionally alongwith excipients to manufacture a medicament for serotonin reuptake inhibitionin a subject inneed thereof.
