The invention is directed to methods of treating a solid tumor which expresses SALL4 and Phosphatase and Tensin Homolog (PTEN) in an individual in need thereof, comprising administering to the individual an effective amount of a composition that inhibits SALL4. In addition, the invention is directed methods of method of detecting an aggressive cancer in an individual in need thereof comprising detecting whether one or more cancer cells of the individual expresses SALL4, wherein if SALL4 is detected in the one or more cancer cells, then an aggressive cancer is detected in the individual, and methods of method of detecting a poor prognosis of a patient with cancer in an individual in need thereof, comprising detecting whether one or more cancer cells of the patient expresses SALL4, wherein if SALL4 is detected in the one or more cancer cells of the patient, then a poor prognosis is detected in the patient.Linvention concerne des méthodes de traitement dune tumeur solide exprimant le gène SALL4 et le gène PTEN chez un sujet nécessitant un tel traitement, qui comprennent ladministration audit sujet dune quantité efficace dune composition inhibant le gène SALL4. Linvention concerne, en outre, un procédé permettant de détecter un cancer agressif chez un sujet nécessitant une telle détection, qui comprend létape consistant à détecter si une ou plusieurs cellules cancéreuses du sujet expriment le gène SALL4 si le gène SALL4 est détecté dans la ou les cellules cancéreuses, un cancer agressif est détecté chez le sujet. Linvention concerne aussi un procédé permettant de détecter un pronostic médiocre pour un patient atteint dun cancer et nécessitant une telle détection, ledit procédé comprenant létape consistant à détecter si une ou plusieurs cellules cancéreuses du patient expriment le gène SALL4 si le gène SALL4 est détecté dans la ou les cellules cancéreuses du patient, un pronostic médiocre est détecté pour ce patient.
