1. A composition based on nitrates and sulfates used in the nutrition of ruminants to reduce methane emissions, characterized in that the composition has the following preferred composition: i. from 40% to 97% by weight of calcium nitrate, preferably a double salt, calcium ammonium nitrate decahydrate [5Ca (NO) · NHNO · 10HO], more preferably from 60% to 85% by weight； ii. up to 50 wt.% magnesium sulfate, preferably monohydrate or anhydrous magnesium sulfate (MgSO · 1HO or MgSO), preferably from 3% to 20 wt.%； iii. from 1% to 40% by weight of a coating, preferably consisting of hydrogenated vegetable fats, preferably from 3% to 20% by weight； iiv. up to 20 wt.% additives, preferably from 0.1 to 10 wt.%, present in the form of coated granules, preferably consisting of vegetable fats, which include, without limitation, soybean oil, castor oil, palm oil, babassu oil, liquid cashew nuts or cashew nuts, and alternatively coconut oil, linseed oil and canola oil. 2.
