PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device that better regulates pressure experienced in an eye during surgery.SOLUTION: An ophthalmic surgical hand piece 150 comprises a driver coupled to a horn. The horn is coupled to a needle. An aspiration pump 170 is integral with the hand piece and is located closely to the needle. A prescribed rigid length of aspiration line 155 is located between the aspiration pump and the needle.
