PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swallowable capsule for stimulating L cells in the small intestinal tract to produce incretins and other peptides.SOLUTION: A swallowable capsule 10 comprises: a capsule body 20； at least one pair of electrodes 40 disposed on a capsule body surface 25 in order to electrically stimulate L-cells； at least one sensor 60 coupled to the capsule body for sensing a property of the intestinal track to determine the location of the capsule within the intestinal tract； a controller 30 coupled to the electrodes and the sensor； and a power source 55 coupled to the controller. The controller is disposed within the capsule body and configured to receive an input signal from the sensor, determine the location of the capsule within the intestinal tract on the basis of the input and generate a waveform outputted to the electrodes.
