The invention relates to a portable shear. The shear includes a frame structure (10), in which are arranged handles (11) for operating the shear, blade means (13) for cutting material, and means (14) for operating the blade means (13) and thus for cutting the material. The blade means (13) include a blade (15) fitted as part of the frame structure (10) and a counter-piece (16) arranged to rotate fitted to the frame structure (10). The counter-piece (16) is arranged to rotate over the blade (15) and press the material against the blade (15) in order to cut the material as well as press the cut material against the frame structure (10) in order to keep a grip on the material. The frame structure (10) includes a sub-frame (17). In addition, there is a pivot (24) between the frame structure (10) and the sub-frame (17).
