PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MRI apparatus which assists monitoring of a subjects state at the time of imaging during which a motion of the subject must be restricted in order to reduce burden on an operator as much as possible.SOLUTION: An MRI apparatus comprises: image output means for acquiring and outputting image data for monitoring a state of a subject recording means for recording the image data from the image output means contour image generation means for generating a contour image for the image data recorded in the recording means and comparison means for comparing a first contour image at an arbitrary timing during imaging generated by the contour image generation means with a second contour image at a timing of starting magnetic resonance imaging generated by the contour image generation means.
