PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To omit forming notch parts in four corners to suppress the chipping and to reserve enough space for arranging the light receiving part and at the same time to reduce the diameter of the tip part.SOLUTION: An endoscope 1 according to the present invention has a light receiving unit 4B in a rectangular surface 4A and also has a rectangular image capture element 4 within a tip part 3 of an insertion part 2.
