The present invention relates to a double strand RNA (dsRNA) which induces transcription activity of a TXNIP gene and inhibits growth of cancer cells. According to the present invention, the ds RNA complementary to a promoter region of the TXNIP gene increases transcription activity of the TXNIP gene, a tumor suppressor gene, in cancer cells, and inhibits growth of the cancer cells.
