The means for coupling to the guide mechanism (5) for shortening the rear legs is activated as a consequence of the manual forward rotation of the front legs (2). This device makes it possible to place, in a bathtub or in or on another sanitary fitting, a person requiring assistance for such functions, and it may also be handled by a single assistant.
