Disclosed is a container system (10) for peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions. The disclosure notes there is presence of degradation products in commercially available PD solutions results in damage to the peritoneal wall and can adversely affect proteins elsewhere in the body. The present container system (10) aims to reduce glucose degradation products present in PD solutions. The container system (10) comprises a first compartment (12A), a second compartment, a first frangible seal, a second frangible seal, a diffuser (18A) and a protective member (53). The first compartment (12A) contains a first PD agent (14). The second compartment contains a second PD agent. The second compartment is in any of direct and indirect fluid coupling with the first compartment (12A). A vessel (21) forms the second compartment which folds upon application of force and expels the second PD agent in connection therewith. The first frangible seal prevents fluid transfer between the first compartment (12A) and the second compartment. The second frangible seal prevents fluid transfer between the second compartment and an outlet fluid pathway (28) of the container system (10). The diffuser (18A) is in the fluid pathway between the first (12A) and second compartments and facilitates mixing of the first (14) and second PD agents. The protective member (53) inhibits breaking of the second seal prior to breaking of the first seal.
