The invention relates to a composition comprising insulin growth factor binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) for treating malaria or reducing the phenomenon of IRBC-endothelial cytoadherence. The composition can further comprise Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) and/or thrombospondin- 1 (TSP-1).
