Intervertebral implant (1) for the fusion between two vertebral bodies of a vertebral column comprising: - a body having two opposite surfaces (3) and including holes (5) or cavities (6) for filling purposes during bone growth - an engagement portion (7) for receiving a gripping end of a positioning instrument wherein the engagement portion is shaped as a splined shaft (9) accessible through an opening (8) of said body. Advantageously, the application further relates to a positioning instrument for implanting the above invertebral implant (1).
