PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new photosensitive gene of a plant which can modify the flowering time of the plant by modifying the photosensitivity of the plant using the gene.
SOLUTION: Research has eagerly been conducted to isolate a photosensitivity-associated gene by paying attention to the fact that the development of a convenient method for modifying the heading time of rice plant is especially desired among plants. The base sequence of heading time-associated gene locus Ehd3 which has been identified only in genetic level is isolated/identified by map-based cloning. Further, a method for easily modifying the heading time of rice plant has been developed.
