Simvastatin (hypolipidemic drug) belongs to BCS class II type having low solubility and high permeability. It is widely used for reduction in the risk of cardiac heart disease mortality and cardiovascular events. Pharmacological action of the simvastatin can be achieved by attaining required concentration of drug in systemic circulation. Therapeutic effectiveness of a drug depends upon the bioavailability and ultimately upon the solubility of drug molecules. Nanobiocomposite of simvastatin with biopolymer (preferably with polysaccharide) as acacia, or gum ghatti was developed using microwave irradiation method. Formed nanobiocomposite has enhanced solubility and dissolution tested by chemical methods. Nanobiocomposite formation of simvastatin using biopolymer is simple easy method to enhance solubility.
