The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of muscle atrophy comprising an extract of Omija, Gugija and Jumuchisan as an active ingredient, and a food composition for preventing or ameliorating atrophy. The extracts of Omija, Gugija, and Jugong are effective in inhibiting and alleviating the symptoms of atrophy. In addition, the compound extract of the present invention exhibits remarkable synergistic effects as compared with the single extract of Omija, the extract of Gujia monogatari and the extract of single mugwort.
