A polyaxial pedicle screw (1) of the type comprising: a receiving head (2) comprising a transversal U-shaped passage (22)； a shank (3) having a threaded portion (30) external to the receiving head (2) and a bulging end (31) rotatable housed within said receiving head (2)； a locking insert (4) housed within said receiving head (2) and matable with said bulging end (31), for locking it into position； and a set-screw (5) engaged in the distal aperture (21) for locking a connecting rod (200) received within the transversal U-shaped passage (22), the receiving head (2) of said polyaxial screw featuring at least a lateral aperture (42), said lateral aperture (42) exposing a contact surface (41) of said locking insert (4) in such a way that external pressing means can act on said contact surface (41) in order to maintain the locking insert (4) into its locking position.
