PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent endoscope apparatus and a method for detecting residue in a body cavity which is capable of identifying a fluorescent image part due to residue in the case of fluorescent imaging of the inside of the body cavity.
SOLUTION: In the fluorescent observation apparatus, the inside of the body cavity is irradiated with with white normal light and excitation light, reflected light and fluorescence through a fluorescent filter is picked up by two CCDs, respectively, and image is processed to generate a normal image and a fluorescence image. Fluorescent signal data obtained through a plurality of fluorescent filters of different transmission wavelengths, is determined whether it is generated by a lesion part or the residue, using a threshold for determination, and information of a judging result is stored in a memory part. Then, in the case of displaying the image on a monitor, a fluolescent image part generated by the residue can be identified on the fluolescent image by displaying it by a display mode changed with the information.
