The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases comprising extract of Pistacia weinmannifolia J. Poiss. Ex Franch or fraction thereof. The Pistacia weinmannifolia J. Poiss. Ex Franch or fraction thereof according to the present invention: does not show toxicity； produces NO, IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 which are inflammatory mediators； inhibits oxygen free radicals； and significantly induces alleviation of airway hyperresponsiveness, inhibition of endobronchial inflammatory cell infilt-ration, and reduction of inflammatory cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid in an ovoalbumin-induced asthma mouse model. Also, the Pistacia weinmannifolia J. Poiss. Ex Franch or fraction thereof of the present invention effectively inhibits secretion of immunoglobulin in blood serum, secretion of endobronchial mucus, and infiltration of inflammatory cells in lung, thereby being useful as a safe agent for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases including asthma, allergy, and inflammation.본 발명은 피스타시아 웨인마니폴리아 (Pistaciaweinmannifolia J. Poiss. ExFranch) 추출물 또는 분획물을 포함하는 염증성 질환의 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 피스타시아 웨인마니폴리아 추출물 또는 분획물은 독성을 나타내지 않으며, 염증 매개인자인 NO, IL-4, IL-5 및 IL-13의 생성 및 기관지 내 활성산소의 발생을 억제하고, 난백알부민-유도 천식 마우스 모델에서 기도과민성 경감 및 기관지 내 염증세포 침윤 억제, 기관지폐포 세척액 내 염증세포 감소를 현저히 유도하였다. 또한, 본 발명의 피스타시아 웨인마니폴리아 추출물 및 이의 분획물은 혈청 내 면역글로불린 분비, 기관지 내 점액 분비, 및 폐 조직 내 염증세포의 침윤을 효과적으로 억제하여 천식, 알레르기 및 염증을 비롯한 염증성 질환의 예방 및 치료에 안전한 제제로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
