A fullerene and an application of a derivative of fullerene utilized in preparing a product for promoting hair growth. Also provided is a Chinese medicine composition containing fullerene and a derivative thereof for resisting head infection, relieving itching, preventing alopecia, strengthening hair, growing hair, and treating seborrheic alopecia. The fullerene and the derivatives thereof are used to treat alopecia, especially androgenic alopecia, alopecia areata and seborrheic alopecia, caused by reduction of growth factors of hair follicle vascular endothelial cells.
