PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell membrane-electrode assembly capable of reliably suppressing an electrolyte membrane from being deformed without deteriorating characteristics of a membrane-electrode assembly, such as gas diffusion properties and drainage properties.SOLUTION: A membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) 110 includes: an electrolyte membrane (PEM10); an anode electrode 11 having an anode catalyst layer 11a provided so as to correspond to one main surface of the PEM10; and a cathode electrode 12 having a cathode catalyst layer 12a provided so as to correspond to another main surface. In the membrane-electrode assembly, the Young's moduli of the anode catalyst layer 11a and the cathode catalyst layer 12a in a surface direction are higher than the Young's modulus of the PEM10 in a surface direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
