According to an embodiment of the present invention, an endoscope includes an elongate insertion section 2, a bending section 5 which is provided at a distal end of the insertion section 2 and configured to be bent, a bending operation section 30 configured to operate a bending of the bending section 5, a shift mechanism 22 configured to shift a bend radius of the bending section 5 depending on the bending operation section 30, and a shift operation section 35 configured to operate the shift mechanism 22.
