Disclosed is a method for preparing a food composition for improving a joint function containing an extract of Opuntia humifusa as an active ingredient. The present invention comprises the steps of: washing roots of Opuntia humifusa with water, and then introducing the roots into an extraction container； introducing water, ethanol (spirit) or a mixture solvent of water and ethanol (spirit) into the extraction container； heating the extraction container to perform warming extraction for 8 hours； filtering the extract； evaporating the filtrate using an evaporator to concentrate the filtrate； and drying and pulverizing the concentrate.천년초 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 관절기능 개선용 식품 조성물의 제조방법이 개시되어 있다. 본 발명은, 천년초 뿌리를 물로 세척한 후 추출용기에 투입하는 단계； 추출용기에 물, 에탄올(주정) 또는 물과 에탄올(주정)이 혼합된 용매를 투입하는 단계； 추출용기를 가열하여 8시간 동안 가온추출하는 단계； 추출물을 여과하는 단계； 여과물을 증발기에서 증발시켜 농축하는 단계； 및 농축물을 건조하여 분말화하는 단계；를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
