A method of monitoring operation of one or more components of an overhead patient lift system (100), said method comprising:transmitting electronic data signals, corresponding to the operation of a component of the overhead patient lift system (100), to a computer in communication with the overhead patient lift system (100)receiving the electronic data signals corresponding to operation of the component of the overhead patient lift system (100) in a processor of the computerprocessing the electronic signals by the processor of the computer to generate electronic operation data of the component of the overhead patient lift system (100)storing the processed electronic operation data of the component of the overhead patient lift system (100) in a non-transient computer readable storage medium in communication with the computer anddisplaying the electronic operation data of the component of the overhead patient lift system (100) on a display device (700) in communication with one or more of the computer and the storage medium.
