PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisture absorbing film which can shorten a time taken to reach target humidity, adjust the humidity to the target one, effectively prevent absorption of moisture from outside, and house a product such as food, a medicine, a precision instrument and an electronic component with high preservability, and to provide a package.SOLUTION: Provided is a moisture absorbing film which absorbs steam. When the moisture absorbing film having an area S (cm) is allowed to stand in a container having a volume V (ml) (V=2×S) at 25°C in 90% relative humidity, an average steam absorption rate during 5 hours from tight closure of the container is 0.0005 mg/(h-cm) or higher.
