A surgical stapling device comprising: a handle portion a body portion extending from the handle portion a head portion including an anvil and a cartridge, the cartridge being movable from a first position to a second position and wherein the cartridge includes an alignment pin movable within the cartridge an approximation mechanism operatively connected to the cartridge and wherein actuation of the approximation mechanism repositions the cartridge from the first position to the second position a pusher movable from a retracted position to an advanced position to move the alignment pin and a MANUAL engagement member located remotely of the head portion, the MANUAL engagement member operatively associated with the pusher and wherein the pusher is movable in response to actuation of the MANUAL engagement member and the pusher is movable in response actuation of the approximation mechanism.
