Disclosed is a process for disrupting influenza virions. The disclosed process comprises the steps of: obtaining a composition comprising influenza virions in the presence of a phosphate buffer inactivating the influenza virions in the presence of a phosphate buffer and splitting the inactivated virions in the presence of a phosphate buffer. Also disclosed is a vaccine produced by said process and the use of the vaccine in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of an infection by H. influenza.
