The present invention provides a method for inhibiting proliferation of cells, a nucleic acid molecule useful as an anti-cancer agent, and a method for screening as novel anti-cancer agent. In the present invention, inhibition effects on the expression of NEK10 variant gene or the activity of the NEK10 variant protein can be obtained by introducing, into a cell, a nucleic acid molecule having an RNA interfering activity to the NEK10 variant gene. The present invention also provides a method for screening anti-cancer agents, using the inhibition effects as an index.本發明提供一種細胞之增殖抑制方法、作為抗癌劑有用之核酸分子、及新穎抗癌劑之篩選方法。於本發明中,藉由將對NEK10變異基因具有RNA干擾作用之核酸分子導入細胞中,而獲得對NEK10變異基因之表現之抑制效果或對NEK10變異蛋白質之活性之抑制效果。本發明亦提供以該抑制效果作為指標之抗癌劑之篩選方法。
