PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gradient magnetic field coil unit and a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus each improved in noise reduction.SOLUTION: The gradient magnetic field coil unit includes: a gradient magnetic field coil and a cylindrical casing provided with an air column for reducing noise. The gradient magnetic field coil forms a gradient magnetic field in an imaging region. The casing houses the gradient magnetic field coil. The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus is provided with an imaging system and a control system. The imaging system includes the gradient magnetic field coil unit as a constitution element.
