Airtight seal assemblies used during minimally invasive surgery include various features. The wiper seal includes a sealing portion and a surrounding flex portion. The upper and lower surfaces of the sealing portion are inclined with respect to the device to be inserted, and the angle of the upper surface is sharper with respect to the shaft of the device than the angle of the lower surface. Such a flex portion has a corrugated shape, and the support rib is in at least one corrugation groove, and by such a support rib, the groove can be easily folded but the groove can be prevented from widening. This support rib also prevents the sealing portion from being inverted. The device insertion guide is located above the sealing portion and moves laterally with the sealing portion. The latch piece removably secures the seal assembly to the cannula. The anti-rotation piece prevents the wiper seal from reversing when the appliance is removed. The assembly may include various combinations of seal assemblies, cannulas, surgical instruments, closures, endoscopes, and telemetry medical devices. The seal assembly can rotate within the cannula.
