A packaging material which biodegrades in soil and has an adjustable degradation time and a method for manufacturing same for use in the food industry, gardening and other areas and for producing tableware, trays, boxes, etc. The product is obtained by heat treating and moulding a suspension of flour, ionized water, natural additives, and a cis isomer of an unsaturated fatty acid in an amount of not less than 11% of the mass, wherein short-fibre cellulose can also be added.
