The present utility model is a novel spasmolytic agent from extract of Gardenia jasminoides linn. Different doses of extract of Gardenia jasminoides linn. (125mg/kg and 250mg/kg) were administered to experimental albino rats. It was observed that there was a decrease in the contraction in the intestine of the albino rats. There is decrease gastrointestinal contraction of the albino rats therefore is a determinant of the anti-spasmodic effect of the product of the present utility model.
