An electronic cigarette vaporiser that is the same approximate size as a cigarette and has a square or rectangular cross-section with rounded corners and includes a long Printed Circuit Board inserted lengthwise into the vaporiser. In an embodiment, the PCB is not mounted at the mid-point of the cross-section, but at a different position closer to a major face of the vaporiser to permit more room for a rechargeable battery. The cross-section may be a squircle. The vaporiser may include a pipe to transport e-liquid from a filling end, around the heating element, to a reservoir. This pipe may run along one internal corner of the vaporiser. The e-cigarette may be placed into a refilling and recharging case, and may detect being removed from the case. The vaporiser may be refilled from a closed e-liquid cartridge that connects to a fluid transfer mechanism in the case, which may be a piezo-pump.
