The present invention relates to a bowel cleansing composition. The bowel cleansing composition includes a specific sugar alcohol such as xylitol and sorbitol as a first cleaning element； ascorbic acid or a mixture of ascorbic acid and ascorbic acid salts as a second cleaning element； and a water-soluble solvent, wherein the content of the first cleaning element is 10 to 500 g/L based on the total composition, the content of the second cleaning element is 15 to 500 g/L based on the total composition, and the capacity of the water-soluble solvent is 0.1 to 1.0 L. The bowel cleansing composition has excellent bowel cleaning power and improved ease of taking and safety, thereby can be used for bowel cleansing for colonoscopy and endoscopic therapies, bowel cleansing before an abdominal surgery, and bowel treatment before an anal surgery such as hemorrhoids, and is utilized to treat disease such as chronic and acute constipation and to relieve symptoms.본 발명은 제1 세정 성분으로서 자일리톨, 소비톨 등의 특정 당알코올； 제2 세정 성분으로서 아스코르브산 또는 아스코르브산과 아스코르브산 염의 혼합물； 및 수용성 용매를 포함하고, 상기 제1 세정 성분의 함량이 전체 조성물 기준 10g/L 내지 500g/L, 상기 제2 세정 성분의 함량이 전체 조성물 기준 15g/L 내지 500g/L이고, 상기 수용성 용매의 용량이 0.1L 내지 1.0L인 것을 특징으로 하는 장 세정용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 상기 장 세정용 조성물은 우수한 장 세정력, 개선된 복용의 용이성 및 안전성을 가지며, 이에 따라 대장 내시경 검사, 내시경치료술 등을 위한 장 세정과 복부 수술 전 장 세정, 치핵 등 항문 수술 전 장처치를 위해 사용될 수 있으며 만성 및 급성 변비 등의 질환 치료 및 증상 완화에 활용될 수 있다.
